Manchester and District Aikikai Aikido club (M.A.D.A.) was established in January 1971 by Don and Mary Pybus, they had trained and graded with Sensei Chiba 6th Dan Hombu before starting clubs in Manchester, Wigan and Bolton.
In 2001 M.A.D.A affiliated with Alan Ruddock 6th DAN and his association AIKI NO MICHI. Alan from an early age practised Judo and Jiujutsu. In the early sixties he started his karate training in England and opened the first Shotokan Dojo In Ireland several years later. In 1964 he arrived in Japan where he studied at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo under the guidance of the founder of Aikido, Ueshiba Morihei. In 1975 he founded an Aikido Dojo in the Isle of Man, where he taught until his death in April 2012. Alan gave many aikido courses in Britain, Ireland and Europe, including courses in Ireland with Henry Kono, also a student of O Sensei Ueshiba.
Following Alan's guidance we believe that we can offer traditional Aikido as demonstrated by O Sensei Ueshiba Morihei the founder of Aikido.
